ESSAY 18
Some people spend
their entire lives in one place. Others move a number of times throughout their
lives, looking for a better job, house, community, or even climate. Which do
you prefer: staying in one place or moving in search of another place? Use
reasons specific examples to support your opinion.
Some people like change while some other try as much as
possible to stick to the pattern that he/she knows. This essay will discuss how
people decide to make or not to make changes.
When someone decides to settle in the same workplace for
many years, he might have felt very comfortable in the job, both in terms of
financial, career prospects and job satisfaction. As for those who decide to
settle in the same place to stay over the years, it is very likely that he
feels he has a very close relationship with the neighbors of family, the
neighborhood where he had brilliant childhood, and he also wants to raise his
future children and grandchildren in the very same area. The decision to stay
is taken on the basis that the change will not necessarily produce something
better than the conditions that exist today.
When a person decides to move jobs, he could be focusing to
explore his abilities to adapt to the new environment and the demands of a new
career, where the current trends in the career require that someone should be
able to do many things with the quality of work that is just as good. As for
those who decide to settle in a new place every few years, he could be looking
for experience in new places, where exploring new areas and get acquainted with
new people is felt as refreshing, pleasant and not restricting. The decision to
move requires the ability to receive ourselves as citizens of the world who are
not constrained by the limit of any city, country or language.
In my view, I am not quite graceful in adapting to change.
This can be seen from the type of career that I choose, which is teaching, and
this allows me to deal with only one subject over the years. The feeling of
certainty in the job and in the neighborhood makes me feel easier to settle
rather than to explore a new career or a new living environment.
In conclusion, there are many ways to interpret a person's
decision to stay at the same place or to go somewhere new. In the end, people
will do what they think is beneficial for themselves and their immediate
family.
